Man, what is with the Avengers going all Gitmo on people?

Following the semi-disaster of last issue, the Avengers go looking for the cause. Pym spotted Loki assisting Norman Osborn and has confirmed that it was the god of mischief disguised as the Scarlett Witch who sent them on the fool’s errand in the first place.

After informing Quicksilver of this at an impressive Avengers breakfast (the assembly of which is one of the best parts of the book), they decide to attack Loki at once. Having discovered one of his sanctuaries, Pym sets up a device to capture him. It works and, as an added bonus, is a one-button torture device as well which the impatient and angsty brother of the Scarlet Witch is all too happy to press very, very fast. Hank Pym has discovered the secret of “Asgardian Water-boarding”.

Well, Loki calls Thor, Thor shows up… and everything goes to Hell. It’s amazing how philosophical people can be while throwing lightning, god-wrestling, and torturing each other’s immediate family. Just when things seem to be settling, Wasp’s ego rears its ugly head.

Hank Pym seems to have discovered the science of size manipulation by carefully analyzing the swelling of his head.

It’s a fun comic. Dan Slott and the art team deliver a solid, fully realized comic. The arrogance reads so clearly on the face of the “Scientist Supreme” that you just want to deck him. This issue also sets up for the return of a classic Avengers villain.
