Review: Blackest Night #8
The final issue of the Blackest Night saga has hit the DC Universe, and it ends with a bang. Writer Geoff Johns delivers twists and turns in every page turn of this issue which takes us straight into the next big event, “Brightest Day.” Artist Ivan Reis does a fantastic job capturing all the action that takes place, and Oclair Alber and Joe Prado’s inks are gorgeous to behold. For me, one of the best parts of the issue was towards the end when Barry and Hall are having a conversation at a certain gravesite. The interaction between these two classic characters is great, and it really helps sum up the events that have transpired in this story. Many questions were answered while several big ones were asked and though some of the final outcomes might seem a bit too cliché, I think fans who have been enjoying this story since day one will be happy with the final ending of this one (or maybe it’s just the beginning depending on how you look at it). In this day and age of having one big gigantic Comic Universe altering crossover, I think Blackest Night is one of the better reads I have come across in some time.
